Many thanks to Jim Bones, a photographer at our CatchLight Art Gallery in Alpine, Texas, who spent his time putting together this video of me at work. You will see me at work on a cactus patch pastel painting and a fun painting of a alpaca. I discuss my career trajectory, pastel techniques and my artistic processes.
About Sharon Haney
Sharon happily lives in Alpine, Texas and paints inspired by her local West Texas surroundings and travel destinations. The Big Bend area provides beautiful desert vistas and proximity to many State and National Parks. She studied watercolor and oil painting while living in England during the late 1980’s and that inspired her to begin painting seriously later in life. Once she discovered pastels in 2012 she was “hooked” on their luminosity, versatility and beauty. As reflected in her paintings, she loves color and paints primarily in vibrant pastels. Many of her watercolor, oil and pastel paintings now reside in numerous states as well as in the United Kingdom and St. Lucia.
Sharon is a member of the Big Bend Arts Council, the Red Rock Pastel Society and is a past President of the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas and the Lone Star Art Guild.
